Foul is Fair & Fair is Foul in This Bewitching Market
The big Bogeyman in this year’s market has come in the form of rising interest rates that have terrorized, intimidated, daunted, and beguiled would-be buyers for months now. And this is no apparition, but a tangible ne’er-do-well that has lingered and pestered the country with his beastly escalation in percentage points month after month. The twenty-year highs are enough to put a chill in the spine of old Count Dracula, whose dreaded castle we presume, was purchased eons ago when the market was more, er…appetizing, shall we say. But there is a silver bullet, I mean lining, mind you, that is three-fold: 1) inventory is creeping up, 2) buyer demand has eased, and 3) home values have come back down. All are positive indicators that some tasty treats should be on the way for the savvy home buyer.

Special Hollywood Feature!!
(If You Dare!)
The greater Los Angeles housing market is the stuff of dreams, having given birth to some of the most iconic homes in the country. There is a darker side, however. A side of the city that has witnessed some of the most ghastly and foreboding homes in the region, particularly, in Hollywood. All manner of witchery, black magic, conjuring, and the like have taken up residence in these ill-starred homes—seemingly warm and inviting on the outside, yet sinister and diabolical on the inside. Summon your fortitude, and let’s take a peek inside at some homes that are even scarier than today’s interest rates.
_____
The Poltergeist II House
Fittingly, but not surprisingly, the first Poltergeist house disintegrated in devilish aplomb, caving in on itself in a spectacular finale. The second Poltergeist house, for the sequel, was a traditional Craftsman-esque dwelling that is located in the suburbs of Altadena.

_____
The Craft Catholic Institution
The Verdugo Hills High School is set in the North Valley and has been a desirable location for filmmakers over the years. For The Craft, it served a more sinister role but, fret not…in real life, it is a benign, even ho-hum, LAUSD public school property.

_____
Invasion of the Body Snatchers
In real life, the iconic town of Santa Mira is but a fictional city created by filmmakers. It is located along the Sierra Madre’s Kersting Court. And if you look closely, you may feel a sensation, even a rush of fear, as the all-too-familiar cinematic horrors creep into your imagination.

_____
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
This is actually a Frank Lloyd Wright house that has appeared in numerous movies over the years. In fact, it was the site of one of the all-time classic 1950s B-Horror Flicks, House On Haunted Hill. More recently, it was the home to the teenage blood-suckers Spike, Dru, and Angel—who met their fitting end at the hands of do-gooder, turned vampire slayer, Buffy.
